THE BRIGHTER SIDE
OF THE MOON
Prizm Edition XIII is an offering.
A blueprint.
A remembering.
A turning toward light we have not yet fully allowed ourselves to see.
This year, Prizm invites our community to gather in that spirit of renewal. Rather than a traditional fair, we will celebrate the 13th edition of PRIZM through a series of in-person experiences designed to reconnect us to one another and to the possibilities ahead. Our Prizm Preview Event on December 3rd will open the week, followed by our Prizm Panel Series on the 5th at Soho Pool House—a week of fellowship, sound, and joy that embodies the heartbeat of our creative community.
Programming will also include:
A keynote panel conversation on the future of the arts ecosystem and cultural stewardship. A special HBCU Social, honoring the legacies of Historically Black Colleges and Universities as incubators of artistic excellence, cultural memory, and generational continuity in the visual arts.
In moments of rupture, humanity has always turned toward art—not only as reflection, but as roadmap. In recent years, as societies have faced a profound retraction of civil rights, the lingering disorientation of a global pandemic, and an economic climate that has tested the resilience of our cultural institutions, the creative landscape has been irrevocably transformed. The fragility of our arts infrastructure has been laid bare. Yet artists continue to create. They continue to dream. And in doing so, they have offered us not only survival, but direction.
The Brighter Side of the Moon emerges from this resilience. The moon—long associated with cyclical change, intuition, and the unseen—holds a hemisphere that remains invisible from Earth. We know it exists, yet we do not witness it directly. To turn toward that hidden radiance is to affirm that what is obscured is not absent; it is simply waiting for recognition.
For the past 13 years, Prizm has presented works and special projects from groundbreaking artists whose practices interrogate and critique established narratives, historize marginalized stories, and refuse the flattening of identity and the commodification of trauma. They also illuminate tenderness, future-building, ecological repair, ancestral technologies, and sovereign joy. Their practices remind us that imagination is infrastructure. That community is a form of wealth. That restoration is a strategy.
If the visible side of the moon reflects what we already know—our grief, our exhaustion, our collective reckoning—then The Brighter Side of the Moon calls us toward what has always been possible beyond our field of view: a renewed cultural horizon built through care, collaboration, and visionary clarity.
